GREENVILLE, SC – The Greenville Area Development Corporation (GADC), the primary economic development agency in Greenville County, announces that Idealworks, a global industrial automation company founded in Germany in 2020, with roots in robotics development dating back to 2015, has established its US headquarters in Greenville. The new US headquarters strengthens the company’s ability to serve customers locally while expanding its footprint across North America. The move accelerates Idealworks’ existing US business and establishes a permanent local presence.
Idealworks was attracted to the region due to Greenville County’s longstanding manufacturing industry, particularly the established automotive cluster with existing customers such as BMW Manufacturing. The company also supports customers across manufacturing and logistics industries, where coordinated robotic fleets are critical to operational efficiency in highly complex production environments.

“We selected Greenville County and the City of Greenville for our new US headquarters primarily because they sit in the heart of the Southeast’s manufacturing corridor, providing us proximity to existing customers and leading automotive OEMs, tier-one suppliers, and industrial operators,” said Michael Schneider, CEO, Idealworks. “The existing international community, business infrastructure and support, and quality of life also solidified our decision to establish our presence here.”
“Greenville County’s diverse manufacturing ecosystem, logistics network, and central position along the East Coast make it the optimal location for Idealworks to serve their existing customers and to expand their customer base across North America,” said Greenville County Council Chair Benton Blount. “We are honored to have Idealworks join Greenville County’s thriving business and technology community.”
“Welcoming a cutting-edge technology company like Idealworks to Greenville—and servings as the location for their US headquarters—affirms our reputation as a center for innovation,” said Mayor Knox White. “Their unique approach to industrial automation—bringing together robotics, logistics, and advanced software—reflects the kind of forward-thinking investment that continues to shape Greenville’s future.”
“Companies like Idealworks don’t choose Greenville County by accident. This project is a result of cultivating international relationships, our established industrial ecosystem, and supportive community partners. Idealworks is a perfect fit for Greenville County as they align with our broader goal of recruiting companies in the professional and technical services industry,” said Max Stewart, president and CEO, the GADC. “The establishment of their US headquarters validates Greenville County’s ability to support tech companies that serve industrial markets.”
“We say Upstate South Carolina is where manufacturing and technology intersect, and Idealworks is a great example. Their selection of Greenville County validates our strong business location, and their automation solutions can boost productivity for our region’s manufacturing ecosystem,” said John Lummus, president & CEO, Upstate SC Alliance.
